It’s really hard to believe that we’re almost half way done
with this whole pregnancy thing! I’m completely excited about it yet a little
terrified at the same time. In 5 months I’m
going to meet my “SON”! WHOA! I’m having a kid…. Crazy!
This last week has been a quick holiday week it seems
like. Although, the short work week last
week seemed to be the longest short week ever for some reason. I was hit with a nasty cold and it’s still
sticking around and making it hard to have a lot of energy to do anything! Glad that my husband is able to read a recipe
card and did a great job of making dinner last night, because this mamma was
not getting off the couch!
At 19 weeks, I’ve got lots of movement from the little man!
Not a lot of movement that can be felt outside my tummy, but definitely can
feel him moving around in there! There
have a been a couple times he’s given me a good punch or kick that I’ve been
able to feel on the outside. The first
time I felt it I tried to get Mister to put his hand there but then of course
the little dude didn’t have anything left to give! But I’m sure in the weeks to come that will
change, and we’ll both be able to feel him moving a lot more.
What’s Mini-Mister up to this week?
Your baby's sensory
development is exploding! His brain is designating specialized areas for smell,
taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that he may be able
to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to him, or
singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs
about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size
of a large heirloom tomato. His arms and legs are in the right
proportions to each other and the rest of his body now. His kidneys continue to
make urine and the hair on his scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating
called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in
the amniotic fluid.
Funny thing about
the baby growing hair… I’m pretty sure we’re going to have a rather bald
child. I didn’t have any hair on my head
until I was 3 years old (my father still has the picture in his wallet to prove
it), and I haven’t had any bouts of heartburn yet, where as some of my pregnant
counterparts have complained about having heartburn from early on. So.. my bet is… 10 lb bald baby – should be
interesting!
So as some of you
know, my parents purchased a rather large stuffed giraffe to put in the nursery
for the baby. Tyson wasn’t a huge fan of
it at first but he’s kind of come around to it and has learned he has to leave
it alone. My Mister on the other hand…
is having more fun with it than he should!
This giraffe now appears in my closet, in the middle of the hallway
around the corner and who knows where else it will be. Scaring a pregnant woman should be totally
against the rules! I have a feeling the next 5 months with that thing could be
interesting. As you can see from this
photo, Mister really wants to put the giraffe in the babies room in this
position staring out the window, as the neighbors kitchen window is nearly
directly across from this window and I’m sure they’d really wonder what in the
world was going on!
Here are a few
other photos of some items we have for the baby now. Some super cute onesies
and some giraffe stuff. We’ve also order
his bedding and some flooring for his room but they haven’t arrived yet! There will be more pictures once they get
here!
Can not WAIT to get him in this and to match his mamma! |

Another blanket to show our polka dot brown theme |
We’ve got our next checkup
and 20 week ultrasound next week! Very excited to get to peak at this little
man again! Here’s to a happy &
healthy 2013 and an easy quick last half of pregnancy!
